The 2025 Oscars have officially wrapped, the golden statues have been handed out. We’ve all collectively oohed and aahed over the looks on the main red carpet. But it goes without saying that some of the best fashion moments are at the Vanity Fair after-party!

This years Oscars after party was no different from others. Not only a chance for the celebrities to change their looks into something more comfortable for dancing (and this year, for eating in and out burgers). It also provides them another chance to make red carpet history!

This year was no exception. Let’s dive into some of the ensembles and red carpet trends that had me searching the internet for reviews and designer names.

THE risqué lOOKS

The Vanity Fair Oscars party was all about embracing daring fashion, with many stars opting for risqué looks that left little to the imagination. The “naked dress” trend isn’t going anywhere, with celebrities like Olivia Wilde, Kendall Jenner, and Julia Fox donning sheer and barely-there gowns that made a bold statement.

Olivia Wilde’s romantic sheer peignoir-style piece from Chemena Kamali’s Chloé SS25 collection was a standout, a sexy but understated sheer white number. It has a feel of lingerie and was one of my favourite looks from the night.

Julia Fox’s completely sheer dress by Dilara Findikoglu was a daring choice that certainly turned heads. The ensemble was a free the nipple moment for Fox and was detailed with locks of wavy brown hair. The strands of hair strategically covered Fox’s crotch and part of her cleavage.

Meanwhile, Megan Thee Stallion, while wearing Julian Mendez Couture, took the trend to new heights with a moss green gown that required matching nipple covers! A bold choice that certainly got the audience talking. Proving that sometimes, the most memorable looks are the ones that push the boundaries of red carpet fashion.

THE SPARKLE DRESSES

Sparkle was undoubtedly another trend at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscars party, with many celebrities opting for dresses that shimmered and shined under the lights. Demi Moore, for instance, made a stunning transition from her silver Armani Privé gown at the Oscars Red Carpet earlier in the night to a dazzling gold Gucci number at the after-party, embodying the essence of a golden statue herself. 

Selena Gomez also kept the sparkle alive, changing into a sequin-covered, midnight blue Armani Privé gown that hugged her body perfect and literally glittered from head to toe.

The trend was so prevalent that it felt like an unofficial dress code, with stars like Sydney Sweeney, Tate McRae, and Paris Hilton all rocking their own versions of golden and silver sparkly dresses. It was clear that when it comes to awards season, nothing says glamour quite like a dress that shines like diamonds.

THE BUTTER YELLOW DRESSES

Another striking trend at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscars party, that can be seen on and off the red carpet, was the emergence of butter yellow dresses. Which added a much needed splash of colour to the red carpet.

Danielle Deadwyler was a vision in yellow on the red carper. Wearing a custom Gucci pale yellow halter-neck gown that stole the spotlight. The dress was adorned with all-over sequins and crystal embroideries, adding a touch of glamour and sophistication to her overall look.

Zoey Deutch wore another stunning yellow gown adorned with yellow pompoms. The playful and eye-catching design was a standout on the red carpet, capturing the essence of spring with its bright, sunny hue. Deutch’s choice of outfit was both daring and delightful, showcasing her ability to pull off bold fashion with ease. Her look was one of the most memorable of the evening, adding a fun and lively touch to the glamorous event

Predicted trends

Based on the risqué and sparkly looks at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscars party, as well as broader red carpet trends, here are some of my predictions for upcoming fashion moments in 2025:

Sheer Elegance: The “naked dress” trend is here to stay, with sheer fabrics, delicate embellishments, and daring cut-outs becoming wardrobe staples for evening wear. Expect to see more dresses that balance boldness with sophistication, featuring intricate lace, tulle, or crystal overlays.

High-Voltage Sparkle: Sequins, metallics, and crystal embellishments will dominate formal wear. From head-to-toe glittering gowns to subtle shimmering accents, sparkle is the ultimate way to make a statement. Golds, silvers, and jewel tones will lead the charge.

Cut-Outs and Skin-Baring Details: Designers will continue to experiment with cut-outs in unexpected places, think waistlines, backs, shoulders, creating a modern, edgy aesthetic that feels both playful and empowering.

Final Thoughts
